IMPORTANT FIREWORKS UPDATE

The Marblehead Fireworks and Harbor Illumination will proceed as planned on the Fourth of July.

Weather forecasts indicate that the chance of thunderstorms will be significantly lower in the evening compared to the rest of the day, and are expected to dissipate by about 8pm.

However, we are prepared to move the start-time of the fireworks based on local weather observations and weather radar. Our goal is to start the fireworks at 9:15 PM, as scheduled, but we are prepared to go anytime from up to 30 minutes earlier to up to 60 minutes later, if necessary.

Sunset on July 4^th is at 8:25 PM. The Harbor Illumination is scheduled to start at 9:00 PM when flares are lit all around the perimeter of the harbor, creating a magnificent ring of light that sets the stage for the main event: at 9:15 PM the fireworks are launched off a barge at the mouth of Marblehead Harbor, which creates ideal viewing opportunities for the public from the parks at Fort Sewall, Chandler Hovey Park, and Crocker Park, as well as for boaters, yacht club members at the five clubs that are located around the harbor as well as several private residences all around the harbor and Marblehead Neck.

High tide on July 4^th is at 11:02 PM and low tide is at 4:39 PM, so please take the rising tide into consideration when anchoring for the fireworks in the early evening. The US Coast Guard and Marblehead Harbormaster have established a safety perimeter around the fireworks barge, so use caution when entering or leaving Marblehead harbor during the Fourth and avoid the safety zone that will be marked by four orange marker buoys.
